I have lived in Monterey County for about48 years.
I am a real estate broker.
I was at one timeChair of the local Sierra Club, in the 1990s. I was also Conservation Committee Chair.
I have at times been ananimal rights activist, attending demonstrations and conducting anti-fur protests.
I have led avegan lifefor about 35 years. Never too late, I guess, but shoulda done that a lot sooner, and you should, too;the planet would be better off.
I'mpretty familiar with the Park District, over the years hiking most of their properties, particularly Garland Park and the Frog Pond. For a while I was on the Garland Trail Committee, and at times I have helped them with publication of communication materials, such as newsletters.
I've alsoopposed the Districtat other times (rarely), at one point working with others to pressure the District todisallow bikes in Garland Park.
I cite the above, not because I want to talk about all my successes--I'd really rathersave that for my obituary-- but to demonstrate that my current dissatisfaction with the Park Board stems froma long-standing regard for the landsthey control, and a belief that those lands are most important in their natural state. If we can access them, great, butwe shouldn't make access more important than the wild values of the land.
